Court orders unconditional release of pro-Biafra leader, Nnamdi KanuJ

The High Federal Court of Abuja, this morning, ordered the release of the director of Radio Biafra, Nammadi Kanu. He was arrested in October by the the state security service (DSS) on charges of criminal conspiracy and belonging to an unlawful organization.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola, in a ruling on Kanus bail application, held that his continued detention without any pending charges against him is against the provisions of section 35(4) of the Constitution. He also set aside an order granted to the DSS on November 10, 2015 permitting them to keep him for 90 days...
